From Alliance Defense Fund:
ADF President, CEO Alan Sears: Constitution Day reminds us of liberty under assault

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — In commemoration of Constitution Day, the Alliance Defense Fund is encouraging Americans to pause to reflect on the uniqueness of the Constitution’s guarantees of liberty and how they are under attack.
The day honors the date of Sept. 17, 1787, when 39 delegates from 12 of the 13 states at that time, signed the new Constitution they had adopted to establish a unique, new form of government for the United States of America.
“Freedom is never free, and it must be fought for in order to be maintained,” said ADF President and CEO Alan Sears. “This is a day that all Americans should pause and thank Almighty God and those who came before us for the Constitution, the framework of freedom upon which this nation’s liberty has been built and has endured these 223 years. But it is also a day we cannot take for granted, as the blessings of liberty the Constitution has secured have never been under more assault from those wishing to use the courts to limit and redefine our liberties. In every generation, new threats to liberty appear that must be responded to.”
In addition to its unique approach to protecting and preserving religious liberty, the sanctity of life, marriage, and the family through strategy, training, and funding, ADF is also involved in litigation in courts of every level across the nation so that the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution are upheld.
Sears explained that the Constitution set up laws and a new form of government unlike any the world had seen before. The new government was limited in scope with all powers not specifically granted to the federal government retained by the states, and subject to the people.
“This was one of the most influential events in American history, establishing these previously existing rights and protecting the freedoms we have to this day,” Sears explained. “The basis of our liberty is our Creator, but the Constitution was written in order to guarantee and protect these liberties and the natural rights of man. All Americans should join in reflection on the gift that our Constitution provides to protect our freedoms--a protection that is truly unique in all the world.”
ADF is a legal alliance of Christian attorneys and like-minded organizations defending the right of people to freely live out their faith. Launched in 1994, ADF employs a unique combination of strategy, training, funding, and litigation to protect and preserve religious liberty, the sanctity of life, marriage, and the family.
