The attorney general of Alabama has joined in a lawsuit filed by the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) to stop the Obama contraception mandate.
Attorney General Luther Strange said that the state was joining the Catholic broadcasting giant because the Obama mandate violates the terms of the Alabama constitution, which guarantees respect for the conscience of the individual citizen.
“We are grateful to Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange for taking such a strong stand on this issue,” said Michael Warsaw, the president of ETWN. “This suit demonstrates that the Alabama motto--‘We dare to defend our rights’--is no mere slogan.”
