Obama administration sketches details of contraceptive mandate

Obama administration sketches details of contraceptive mandateRSSFacebookMarch 19, 2012

The Obama administration has released some more details about the mandate for contraceptive coverage in health-care plans.
A March 16 announcement from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) detailed the ways in which religious institutions will be required to furnish contraceptive coverage for employees and students. The detailed plans did not alter the mandate as it had already been announced.
Proponents of legal abortion welcomed the HHS announcement, while pro-life groups and representatives of the US bishops’ conference indicated that they would need time to study the proposed regulations. The HHS announcement was issued late on a Friday afternoon: traditionally the time when politicians release information when they are hoping to avoid public attention.
