Sheriffs For The Constitution

Do you have a Constitutional sheriff in your county?
Though there are increasing reports of law enforcement agencies acting in increasingly violent, militarized and evermore unConstitutional ways, many Americans hope that another trend is also emerging among some of the Nation’s law enforcement officers.
The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association — sponsored by the John Birch Society, the Gun Owners of America and the Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, among others — aims to train sheriffs throughout the Nation to be protectors of the Constitution and their locales’ last hope against Federal tyranny.
Late last month, the organization hosted itsinaugural convention in Las Vegas, with about 120 sheriffs in attendance. The conference was organized by former Graham County, Ariz., Sheriff Richard Mack, a Tea Party advocate who, along with six other sheriffs, challenged the Constitutionality of the gun-control measure commonly known as the Brady Bill that was introduced by the Clinton Administration in the 1990s. Mack’s challenge went all the way to the Supreme Court where it was deemed that local law enforcement could not be compelled to carry out Federally mandated background checks.
Materials on the Constitutional Sheriffs’ website states: “The sheriff’s position overrides any federal agents or even the arrogant FBI agents who attempt to assume jurisdiction in our cases.”
And some sheriffs throughout the Nation have spent their time standing up to Federal agencies, including the U.S. Forest Service; the Bureau of Land Management; the Internal Revenue Service; the FBI; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Environmental Protection Agency; and the Food and Drug Administration.
The Constitutional Sheriffs plan to meet again this summer.
