Large pharmaceutical corporations have a keen interest in the current debate about mandated coverage of contraception in insurance programs, argues Peter Schweizer.
The Obama mandate requires insurers to provide coverage for all contraceptive drugs and devices approved by the federal government, Schweizer remarks. “It does not insist on generics. And it does not offer any cost containment.”
The pharmaceutical companies—which have contributed heavily to the Obama campaign—would realize a windfall if the contraceptives they manufacture are subsidized under the terms of the Obama mandate.
