Lou Dobbs Interviews Rep. Lamar Smith

From Lou Dobbs:

Dobbs Interviews Rep. Lamar Smith

Jul-15-2010

Lou talks to the author of a key 1996 immigration law about the Justice Department's curious decision not to prosecute so-called sanctuary cities while it goes after Arizona.

The world is upside down. We've got an administration that refuses to go after so-called sanctuary cities at a time when it's suing Arizona for encroaching federal immigration law. It's unbelievable.

Lou was the first person out there to ask the question on the same day the Justice Department filed its outrageous lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Arizona's new anti-illegal immigration law. Lou asked "If the Justice Department is suing the state of Arizona for encroaching federal immigration law, do you find it curious it is not suing the more than 70 sanctuary cities for overriding federal immigration law?

After a week, we finally we received an answer. And it's exactly the answer you'd expect from this highly partisan administration. Tracy Schmaler, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., told The Washington Times: "There is a big difference between a state or locality saying they are not going to use their resources to enforce a federal law, as so-called sanctuary cities have done, and a state passing its own immigration policy that actively interferes with federal law. That's what Arizona did in this case."

So Lou invited Rep. Lamar Smith to the show to talk about this decision. It's worth your time:
